• Replacing Maestro with Mastercard.

I cannot reply to the original topic so I will post this here. Where will the Mastercard debit cards not work? An example of this in The Netherlands has always been Albert Heijn. A lot of other vendors do the same because Mastercard usually charges 1% of the amount as a service fee. Is this still true or Is there some change that negates this? Your claim about being able to use this card at more place seems to be missing some details. At which vendors can we expect to use the cards and at which vendors can't we?

@Tim-Violet-Shark-3647058177#273832 Impossible to say for bunq, it depends on all the stores, restaurants, etc.

But it's important to know there's a difference between Mastercard debit and Mastercard credit. A lot of places in the Netherlands don't support Mastercard credit, but they do accept Mastercard debit! AH for example does support Mastercard debit.

The fees for Maestro and Mastercard debit are exactly the same.

All vendors that accepted Maestro will probably also accept Mastercard Debit (in The Netherlands and Belgium). As this is not a change from bunq but at all banks.

Our local Albert Heijn accepts it. So I think most pos will accept Mastercard debit now. I’ve always thought of ah as the most stubborn of all. Will try it on the market next time and see how it goes.
