MarkRookieThe traditional Maestro card will dissapear, in the Netherlands. But now, january '23, many stores still complain they won't accept 'creditcards' when trying to use the debit Mastercard.
How will this work out in the near future? Around here most small stores accept MC payments. But several larger ones still refuse. Is there something I can/should do/say as a consumer?
XiaomingChampmany pos machines in the Netherlands have upgraded automatically to accept at least MasterCard Debit. I’ll keep trying to see if this is the case at smaller shops, but at Albert Heijn they are already starting to accept MC debit.
I also always wonder if I could do something to encourage merchants to accept Visa/Mastercard/Amex.
