• We need to talk about cash

Hi Bunq,

Is this the right place for candid feedback?

I think you should break up with Paysafe.

This month I tried to deposit cash via them. I was in quite a pickle because I really needed this €500 on my bank account so as not to default on my mortgage. It was quite stressful (no worries, it's been resolved with help from family)

At first, my Paysafe account was immediately blocked, without any explanation. I suspect it's because I tried to make two QR codes at the same time, since the limit per QR code is €250 (sigh) and I couldn't generate the second QR code on the street since I don't have mobile data. Maybe my VPN and the custom domain name for my account also didn't help.

I don't even blame them (or you), in a regulatory environment that is actively hostile to privacy, especially when financial transactions are involved. I know you're actively trying to resist it. Governments are just lucky that the public isn't paying attention that the government is building infrastructure to spy on every single transaction that they do. Using money laundering as an excuse. Every transaction between any two people is to be made only with the implicit permission of the government! Anyway, I digress.

After I raised hell both at Paysafe and at Bunq customer service to get my account unblocked (which took about a week), I went to a nearby shopping center that had, according to the map on the Paysafe website, 6 shops that accepted paysafe.

The first shop didn't even exist anymore. The second one said "we don't do that anymore since there's no commission for us". The other 4 didn't know what I was talking about. When I look around on this forum I find lots of other examples of people that had the same experience in different neighborhoods. One person even called every single shop on the list, and none of them accepted paysafe deposits.

Revolut, on their website, flatly states that deposits aren't possible. The same seems to be true for Bunq. Had I known that one month ago, I would have made different decisions. Informed ones.

So while it'd be best if you found a way to allow cash deposits (and keep fighting against KYC!) in the meantime it'd be nice if at the very least you stated that you don't

Thanks,
Toon

    @Toon-Purple-Tiger#286902 Agreed! Paysafecash is horrible.

      @Toon-Purple-Tiger#286902 Agree!

      It would be nice if bunq joins Geldmaat (in The Netherlands), to support cash deposits.

        Well forgive me, but "we will take it into consideration" is the standard reply, so given that you probably (like every other company) receive more feedback than the relevant decisionmakers can realistically process, it would inspire more trust in me if you said that you won't.

        Unless you're legitimately bringing this up to whoever makes these decisions, but in that case you would have to somehow credibly indicate that.

        Keep in mind: I only hold you to this standard (which would be a low standard for natural persons) because I believe there is a chance that it will have an effect, which is the highest honor that I can bestow upon a corporate.

          in zaandam zouden er een paar zijn...

          1 fietsenwinkel bestaat al jaren niet
          sinds kort staan er 2 mobiel herstelzaken op de site van paysafe,. ik ben er geweest
          en ze keken wij aan alsof men water zagen branden. ze wisten niet waar ik het over had,

          kortom paysafe wekt echt niet.

          als je cash hebt en je moet het echt op je rekening hebben, dan kan je het beste aan vrienden en of familie vragen om te "ruilen" of, wat ik wel een doe. ik koop iets bij bijvoorbeeld Ranzijn of
          the sting met cash geld. en later breng ik het dan weer terug, en dan laat ik het retour gepind op mijn bunq rekening storten. dit is een omweg wat nog kan, maar of winkeliers hierop zitten te wachten?

            5 days later

            @Toon-Purple-Tiger#286916 Hey Toon! We are indeed redirecting your feedback to the department in charge of this specific feature πŸ™Œ Each Together suggestion has then an internal assessment, and only after we can implement any changes. Hope it's a bit clearer now πŸ™

              @beekie#286938

              Ja, zo doe ik dat ook en bij Hornbach is het instant binnen. Je moet wel om vragen dat je het op de pin terug wilt, anders krijg je cash terug. Sommige winkels vragen hoe je het terug wil (zoals Albert Heijn), maar Hornbach kijkt naar je betaalwijze.

                @DhoTjai#287123 ja dat weet ik ,
