Security measures: additional safety warnings

Your safety is our top priority. To help protect you from fraud, we’ve added extra warnings in the bunq app when you take actions that could increase the risk of scams.

When will I see an additional safety warning?

Changing Your Daily Limit:
- Fraudsters may try to get you to increase your daily limit to transfer large sums of money. If we suspect this change is fraud-related, we’ll warn you and remind you that we’ll never call you—if you're on a call, hang up immediately.
IBAN-Name Check:
- To help prevent incorrect transfers and fraud, we’ve added a feature that alerts you if the recipient’s name doesn’t match their IBAN. You’ll be prompted to verify and confirm the details.
Approving a Login:
- Fraudsters may impersonate companies and ask you to log in on another device or approve a login request from an unfamiliar device. We’ll remind you that we’ll NEVER ask for your login details, won’t ask you to approve any login request that’s not made by you, and will never call you.

How will these warnings help me?

If a fraudster pretends to be bunq or asks you to take risky actions, you’ll receive a warning message. This message will remind you that we’ll never ask for your personal info, login details, payment activity, or any other account information. These warnings are there to help you stop and reconsider before sending funds or approving a login.

How does bunq deal with fraudsters?

We’re always improving and adding new safety features to keep your account secure.

Remote access detection: To protect your funds, we’ve added a system that detects remote access apps like AnyDesk. If detected, we’ll automatically set a payment limit on your account to prevent fraud and keep your money safe.
