Hey bunqers 🌈
Your safety is your priority. To protect you from falling victim to the actions of a fraudster, we implemented additional safety warnings that appear in your bunq app when you do actions that increase the risk of being scammed.
When will I see an additional safety warning?
Changing your daily limit: Fraudsters can convince you to raise the daily limit on your Bank Account, so they can transfer large sums of money. Therefore, if you change your daily limit and we have reason to suspect it may be fraud related, we'll warn you that we'll never call you and you should hang up the phone if you're on a call with someone.
IBAN-name check: reducing the chances of incorrect transfers and potential fraudulent transactions, we've implemented a feature that prompts you to verify and confirm the details if a mismatch is detected between the recipient's name and their IBAN.
Approving a login: Fraudsters who impersonate another brand or company can ask you to login on another device, or use your bunq app to approve a login from another device. On bunq Web and in the bunq app we’re reminding you that we will NEVER ask for your login details, will never ask you to approve a login requested by anyone else than yourself, and will never call you.
How will these warnings help me?
If you find yourself in a situation where a fraudster is pretending to be bunq or asking you to perform other risky actions, you'll receive a warning message. This message will remind you that we would never ask for your personal information, login details, payment activity, or any other detail regarding your bunq account. Before you reach the stage of sending funds to the fraudster or approving their login, these warnings are meant to help you reconsider your actions.
How does bunq deal with fraudsters?
We’re constantly improving and frequently implementing more safety features to ensure your security.
-Detection for remote access software: to prevent loss of funds, we've implemented a system that tries to spot remote access applications like AnyDesk, and in case of detection, it automatically places a payment limit on the account to prevent potential fraudulent transactions and loss of your funds.
