An Extrait Kbis is the official document that verifies a company's legal registration in France's Trade and Companies Register (RCS). It serves as the company's "identity card," detailing essential information such as its name, legal form, address, and the identities of its directors.

What does the Kbis contain?

  • Company name, registration number (SIREN)
  • Legal form (e.g., SARL, SAS, etc.)
  • Date of incorporation
  • Registered office address
  • Business activity (APE/NAF code)
    Identity of directors or legal representatives
  • Court of registration

How can I obtain an Extrait Kbis?

  1. Online via Infogreffe:
    • Visit the Infogreffe website.
    • Enter the company's Siren number or its name to locate the desired record.​
    • Choose the format for the extract: Electronic transmission (€3.20) or Postal delivery (€3.85)
    • Proceed with the payment to receive the document. ​
  2. Through MonIdenum (for Company Directors):
    • Company directors can obtain their company's Kbis extract for free via Monidenum
    • Create a personal account and authenticate your identity
    • Once logged in, you can download your company's Kbis extract at no cost.
  3. Directly from the Commercial Court Registry (le greffe du tribunal de commerce):
    • Visit the registry of the commercial court where the company is domiciled to request the Kbis extract in person.

What’s the difference between a Kbis and a SIRET/SIREN number?

  • SIREN: The 9-digit national business identifier
  • SIRET: The 14-digit identifier for a specific business location
  • Kbis: The official extract showing full registration and legal status

Is the KBIS available for all types of businesses?

Yes, the KBIS (Extrait Kbis) is available for all types of businesses that are registered with the French Trade and Companies Register (RCS), including sole proprietorships and partnerships. However, certain business structures, like micro-enterprises, may not receive a full KBIS document but a simplified version instead.
