• New feature notifications feedback

Echo echo, please don’t abuse the notifications system! It’s really hard for apps to build trust for the permission, it only takes one notification to lose it. Please bunq, consider the privilege, don’t abuse it for cheap growth tactics.

    @Martijn-Yellow-Llama#62628 Hi guys,

    Sorry to hear you experiencing these notifications as spam. However, there is a solution! You can request bunq to disable it just for you. So there is an opt out.

    You can contact Support via Private Matters

      Can I also disable these pushes from within the app? There's a whole list of push toggles, but I don't know which one would be the culprit..

        @JohnDo#62640 To be honest, this should rather be opt-in by default.

          @Roeshimi#62646 I personally totally agree with you.

            These ridiculous marketing tactics really need to stop, i'm finding it harder and harder to recomend bunq to other people

              Hey another reason for a notification settings screen. Some people want ads, some don‘t. I definitely don‘t want them from a bank where I‘m paying money for my account.

                @JohnDo#62640 het mag nooit een opt-out zijn!
                Ik vind dat bunq moet stoppen met spammen bij betalende klanten.
                Reclame vrij zoals dat altijd is bij betalende klanten.

                  Hi All,

                  I notice a couple of people are upset about our feature announcement. Please let me clarify.

                  Together is populated by bunq enthusiasts. For you the inner workings of bunq Premium/Business holds no secrets. However you are not the average bunq user. For them knowing how bunq works is an important thing. That’s why we continuously work on easy ways to introduce these (new) features to all. Things like email, push, experiences and awards are a few of the tactics we deploy to help users explore all the great features we have. And how it can help our users in their every day lives.

                  Now you might argue that we can do better. For instance on how or when we communicate certain features. Or what settings/toggles we should introduce. That’s fair feedback which we respect and will take into account.

                  However unfortunately there are also a few who seem to believe that they should be able to dictate their specific set of wishes to all. They deploy the tactic of “shouting hardest” or blackmail (“do xyz or i’ll leave”). To those people I would like to say: bunq holds freedom dear. And we love to do the best we can for the greater of all of our users, and indeed society. One of our great values is freedom. So if you no longer feel at home here, or seriously think a traditional bank is a better match for you, then by all means go ahead: there are no strings attached and you are free to make whatever choice you please. If you decide to stay please try to be polite and constructive. At the end of the day all we do is for you.

                  With apoligies for typo’s as i’m typing this on my phone, whilst pretending to be on a holiday :).

                  Warmest Regards,

                  Ali

                    Information is good but not well distributed
                    Bunq did not try to sell you the blue drug (viagra).
                    He just wanted to remind us that sharing bunq exists. The new ones may not know it yet. Bunq should therefore contact them within 60 days and the (already) old bunqer for new ideas.

                    L'information est bonne mais mal distribuée
                    Bunq n'a pas essayé de vous vendre le médicament bleu (viagra).
                    Il voulait simplement rappeler que sharing bunq existe. Les nouveau ne le savent peut être pas encore. Bunq devrait donc s'adresser à eux dans les 60 jours et aux (déjà) vieux bunquer pour les nouvelles idées.

                      @BigBoss#62675 If i had read your post before i wouldn’t have had to write up my own :)

                      Thank you very much for the support! 🙏🏼🌈

                        @Ali#62677 thanks Ali for the update, it's always nice if a CEO replies!

                          @Ali#62672 @Ali
                          You are absolutely right. I fully understand that bunq wants to give special attention to some new features once in a while. Come on we are talking about a text notification that shows up for max 10 seconds on your screen before swiping it away if you already familiar with it’s content. If that is all there is that might be slightly annoying. Can’t outweigh all the positive and fantastic moments we enjoy using bunq.
                          Keep the business going everyone and enjoy your holidays. 👋🏻❤️🌈🏖

                            I understand the spirit of trying to explain the app to as many users as possible, but on push notifications specifically, at least on iOS, I can’t see how we can get around the fact that the platform owner does not intend or allow them to be used in this way: “You may not use [push notifications] [...] to promote the use of Your Application or advertise the availability of new features or versions”.

                              4.5.4 Push Notifications must not be required for the app to function, and should not be used for advertising, promotions, or direct marketing purposes or to send sensitive personal or confidential information. Abuse of these services may result in revocation of your privileges.

                              So plz stop indeed.... like OP says paying and still receiving these notifications is unacceptable. The mail spam is also crazy but there you can at least filter it.. with notifications on my phone.... that's just crazy. Plz find a new/better way to announce these feature announcements.

                                I do think tho that these announcements should be improved. Mostly in the sense of filtering. Currently the announcements are send to everyone... But I had already explored this part of the app, I even configured the link (which can be verified easily in the database). So, why would I need to get this notification? For people that haven't used it.. Sure. But a push notification from my bank tells me something "urgent" is happening; payments are made, requests come in, etc. Maybe important product updates (bunq Update), but a single feature I'd avoid to present through push messages, especially when irrelevant.

                                Personally I'd rather see an opt-in to see some kind of popup when I open the app to get a list of recently changed features. Kinda like how Slack does it; I see a small indicator about newly released features and can read it once I want to know it. 🙂
