I cannot speak for others, but my main reason for not wanting interest is that I do not want my money to be used for investments that I think are unethical. My ethical views may be a bit more.. extreme than most, so a simple "green" option is not enough for me. I make my own investments and do not want "free money" from sources I cannot verify or trust.
Can we have a reply from a Bunq Official?
One of the best things of Islam is interest free banking, IMO. Banks cannot charge interest on loans, but you also don't get savings interest.
I think the world would have looked a bit better if we didn't always have more debt than money.
Can we have a reply from a Bunq Official?
I think itâs a nice option for people who want it, but I would like to completely remove the option of receiving any interest.
!!!
Received this as an answer from a bunq employee.
What about us, the people who don't want ANY interest at all? I reckon many people will leave Bunq...
The thing is, why call yourself the bank of the free when the bank decides for the people to receive interest?!
It would be nice to give us the option to not receive interest indeed!
So opting everything out I will not receive interest?
I agree with all my brothers above, I donât want no interest!!
It is not possible at the moment?! Seriously.... @bunqsquad plz fix this ASAP. Where is the free choice you promised us all?
@Moustafa#67488 You will still receive interests even if you disable all options.
@Mehran-Grey-Lion#67381 Well... the âgiftâ has to come from somewhere.
I also object to the subjected interest for everyone if thatâs true.
I liked the honest, simple en transparant structure of bunq storing our money on ECB as much as possible, without doing something funny with it.
And I think thatâs healthy for a bank.
With the new update, itâs not so much of an issue that I lack the possibility to opt-out of receiving interest. Itâs that I think creating costs of paying all your customer 9 times the interest that other banks pay, is maybe setting bunq up to go down a path in which they are no different than any other bank.
And giving the possibility to opt-out of interest might not be enough to prevent that.
Iâm just a bit skeptical about this.
I donât see it as a gift. I very much am aware this money I receive has to cone from somewhere.
I never received it at bunq, I knew this and I still moved all of my banking to them 2.5 years ago.
Hope it makes a bit sence, be cause itâs a bit hard to explain for me.
@LH-Black-Wolf#67499 How do you know?
@Kay#67510 Because thatâs what it says in the FAQ explanation topic :P
@LH-Black-Wolf#67499 Not true. See Bunq Support reply.
I totally agree on that we should have our own right to choose wether we receive interest on our money or not. One of the main reasons I chose for Bunq was because I can save money without receiving any interest.
I honestly hope Bunq will look into this. I would hate to go back to my old bank....
