Dear bunq and all their super Fans πŸ–πŸ»

Since Update10 something extraordinary happened: YOU can decide what bunq may or may not do with YOUR money! And even get a massive interest in return! For instance, wanna put your money to work in green companies? Simply select the option from within the app and done! βœ…. Wanna change it? Just as easy. Loving it!

But... I wanna suggest an improvementπŸ’‘

Would love to know more details about the options
The categories you can select are mentioned here and give a good but a very limited description. For instance "All Companies" is vague. Will it include a weapon manufacturer? Probably not, but now I don't know. So, I would love πŸ’– to know more about these choices.

I can understand that bunq doesn't wanna overwhelm bunqers with too many details, but a bit more can't hurt πŸ˜‰

Publish a periodic report on these investments
I would love to see a periodic overview of these investments, at least ones a year. So this way I can see in more detail how MY money benefits the world πŸ‘πŸ‘Œ.. and it gives me a high-level overview of how much money is invested and into what.
A small example (in Dutch): https://lifesight.nl/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/LifeSight-Rendement-fonds-overzicht-fondsen-Q4-2018.pdf

So thank for listening... uhh.. reading.. and let those High Fives πŸ‘πŸΌ flowww 😁

@JohnDo#70291 yes, please bunq, more transparency or a list of companies would do wonders for your customers!

@JohnDo#70291 Absolutely agree with your wish. More transparency of the investment process from bunq is necessary and i would appreciate if bunq could tell us more soon.

        @JohnDo#70291
        Hey John πŸ™Œ,
I have to say I am all in for this, more transparency is very very important. And I would ❀️ to have a list of criteria that bunq uses to determine "other companies". And yes I think a peridic report like maybe every half a year would be very nice, this way the community can understand how bunq uses our money and how it gets invested.

        Have a great day,
        Timo

@JohnDo#70291 βœ‹ and thank you @JohnDo for your post. I am glad that such a famous bunqer 🌈 and moderator like you calls for more transparency.

Famous? πŸ€”πŸ˜Š. But thanks for the kind words!

A factsheet about it on the homepage would indeed be nice
                Love transparency πŸ‘πŸ»

Talking about transparency.... I have some good news to share!

I have asked bunq 🌈 if any of the profits from investments are also used for enhancing bunqs 🌈 financial position or financing operational costs. With other words : are investments a new way of income besides membership fees?

And the answer is: NO... all investment profits flow back to us bunqers. That mean bunq 🌈 still has the same vision as before Update10!

Pretty good news if you aks me! πŸŒˆπŸ‘Œβ€οΈ

I am also interest about the options. I love the green companies option. But what are the criteria for this? And what are the criteria for human rights, gender equality, animal welfare and more?

More openness is always good. I think it may help convince users that have their doubts.

@JohnDo#71013 I think your statement only raises more questions than answers. How are we going to get all these profits? Do we get anything else besides interest? What happens when the return is negative?

@JohnDo#71013 The question, however, is how bunq wants to make a financial breakthrough. The costs must be covered and Ali can not compensate for persistent losses.

@JeroenE#71024 Well, all fair questions. The goal of my question was to know if bunq 🌈 did make a change from providing a subscription model to also make money by investing my money. And fortunately that isn't the case and bunq did stick to there principles.

I guess the interest is the only thing we get back from the investments... still curious how that works.

@Esther-Orange-Unicorn#71031 They key lays in getting more and more payed users. There will be a tiping point where the membership fees will be more then the operational cost.

@JohnDo#71036 That’s fair and I hope it will be successful πŸ‘.

I think it would have been better if they took the interest rates and then used that to subsidise the Premium tier's cost, to be honest.

Then again, I live in a country where typically banking has been free in all of my lifetime at least. That and the 0.27% interest rate is considerably lower than anything I could find in my country (I think my lowest account pays out 0.5%), but maybe that's more a difference between the two different currencies.

To ask a question, is there an option only to invest in Sharia compliant companies? I'm sure this could have quite a lot of potential Muslim customers actually sign up to Bunq. It's definitely very nice that you can choose to invest in only green companies through, for a better Europe!

@JohnDo#71035 It entirely depends on the answer to my questions though. I mean, if they make 100 euro from my money but only give me 27 euro interest what are they going to do with the rest of the money? Are they goign to give it to someone else who made choices that are less profitable? Do I get it? Are they going to keep it themselves?

I don't understand at all why they are making things so complicated and can;t tell us more about how this should work.
