@Nicolas-Lime-Quokka#74787 I'm obviously not a tax lawyer and I don't know about France, so this is your responsibility to research...

But normally you only have to pay taxes if you receive interest. So you should go to the "My Money" menu and disable "I want interest". Then you won't get any interest and you should not have to pay any additional taxes or report anything to the tax office. Just make sure that you disable the interest.

Or if you enable it you probably have to report the amount to the tax office and pay a certain percentage to the French government. Your choice.

The reference of a tax ID is not specifically for interest but more for owned funds. The interest switch is not related to the tax ID as its always necessary to supply it.

Tax departments need information from banks to verify whether you are eligible to pay taxes under the appropriate tax laws in the country of residence or other countries.

That is why banks in the European Union are obliged to register the Tax Identification Number of all customers.

@Nicolas-Lime-Quokka#74787 I assume you are an adult, so you'll need to provide your own tax number to bunq.

If you are a minor, you have a tax number too. Under EU law every citizen is given a tax number when they are born or when they settle in Europe.

You can contact your national tax authority to ask them if they can supply you with this information. They will send you a letter with the number to your official address.

@Samzoiets#74822 Hey bunq itself says that French minors should supply the number of their parents. That‘s what this thread was all about.

@Jakob#74870 If bunq is okay with that, you should follow their guidelines.

They are more familiar with bank regulations then I am, to be honest.

@Tim#74812 It is always necessary to supply of course. But the reason is primarily because the Dutch goverment shares tax information according to CRS with other governments. For that the Tax ID is needed.

So, if you don‘t want them to report your capital gains to your tax authorities... I just suggest not having any.
