@JeroenE#48236 thanks for your reply and examples! Didn't know about some of these things, so thanks for bringing it up. I came aboard a while ago when they were pretty vocal about their privacy stance, and to be honest, I see less and less of it now. Maybe because it doesn't fit their marketing direction or just because they don't prioritize it as much as they did (which your examples illustrate). It's a broader subject that maybe deserves its own topic, I was not trying to pollute this one with it (although I did :P).

    @Joerg-Turquoise-Lynx#48248 Because?

I think that bunq will not introduce Google Pay for the time being, because they market their Tap & Pay through the Premium account. It would be great if they would still offer this, but I use bunq exclusively with the iPhone. For Android I use Revolut.

@leachimus#49543 What has this to do with Premium? Apple Pay is also only available for Premium customers. Tap & Pay would be cool if it would also support Mastercard and Smartwatches..

@johannes#49544 As I understand it, Tap & Pay is reserved for Premium only.

@leachimus#49547 Yes, but what has this to do with Google Pay? bunq could bring Google Pay for Premium customers only, as well :)

@johannes#49552 If bunq offers Google Pay, it must be free for everyone. As long as they can, they will probably want to market their own tap & pay via the premium model.

@leachimus#49553 No they don't. You don't get any card without premium and for Google Pay you need a card.. so it only works with premium. It's the same for Apple Pay..

OK, you're right. As a new customer, you are immediately a free month premium customer. If you downgrade the status again, Apple Pay will be deactivated and the ordered cards will be invalid. If this is worth 8€ per month, you have to decide for yourself.

@soap#48099 Jeroen, I think it is rather common to include this in a privacy policy related to payments. Of course you want to share your payment and other information with your merchant or payment processor: they need it to receive the payment. Similarly, Google needs transaction info like the payment method issuer to process the payment on your side.

I agree with you that privacy is of critical importance, especially in relation to financial matters. The policy you quote seems usual to me, though.

As for the points that other Jeroen brought up: I do agree with most of those. The only thing I'd like to add is that, here too, it is common practice for a company to say that terms and conditions can be changed at any time. Otherwise they would have to inform you of every single re-phrasing or additions in relation to new features. You would get annoyed by the amount of messages you would receive in such a situation. From a legal standpoint it makes complete sense, even if it might be read otherwise.

@Navy-Falcon#51905 I know it's common, but that doesn't make it right. How many times does bunq changes the terms and conditions? They don't need to if they build something new (Saving Goals, new limits, and so on). Only if they are going to do something with my data (eg selling it or giving access to other parties).
I doubt I will be flooded by changes in the terms and conditions but now I have to take a look every day just to see if they haven't changed anything. That's a far bigger burdon on me than a few emails (if any!) in a year. It's just a very custoemr unfriendly passage and not something at all in line with their "bank of the free" slogan.

                        a month later

@JeroenE#48236 Bunq.me uses IDEAL transactions. If bunq hides your IBAN I can simply proceed to the next step of the process and my own bank will show your IBAN as the target.

Like you, I would still prefer it to be hidden on the bunq.me page, but realistically the added privacy is minimal.

@Niels-Turquoise-Zebra#59892 No, the iDeal payment goes to one of bunqs own bank accounts. Bunq will directly transfer the amount to your own account.

In fact this is one of the most common errors. Other people see the IBAN of bunq on their statement after they paid you using bunq.me. Next time they pay directly to this IBAN because they think it's your account. But it isn't, so you don't get any money and a few days later they get the money back because bunq doesn't know what to do with it.

@JeroenE#59893 your actual IBAN is shown in the description though

@Z#59894 Sure, but that doesn't need to be there. If I pay with iDeal in a webshop there is usually a lot in the description, but never the IBAN of the shop.

@Diesse-Cyan-Jaguar#37777 If you want to get it working I recommend DI-Pocket. They have virtual creditcards which you can charge with your bunq card. Have to say their app is horrible but Google Pay is so much faster than the current tap&pay solutions it's ridiculous.
Be sure to create a payment profile in google for a supported country though.

@WormsMeister#62161 Thanks, will see how that app works πŸ™Œ
