We’re excited to announce that we've made your bunq Business experience even better. Right when you leave the Chamber of Commerce building, you can instantly add your new trade name to your bunq account.

With this feature our Business account users can send payments under their preferred trade name, helping them showcase products and promote new services effectively, especially for those with multiple trade names.

How can I add a trade name to my Business Bank Account?

Dutch Business Bank Account

If you have a bunq Business account in the Netherlands, you can select which KvK-registered trade name to link to your bank account. We’ll automatically update the names for you! Just follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the 🏠 Home tab
  2. Tap the Bank Account in question
  3. Go to ⚙️ Settings
  4. Tap on "Trade Name"
  5. Choose your trade name

German Business Bank Account

To add a trade name to your German Business account, contact us via our Support Center and provide the necessary documentation for the trade name.

How to add a trade name during Bank Account creation?

  1. Go to the 🏠 Home tab
  2. Tap on 🟣 Add
  3. Tap on 🟢 Add Bank Account and follow the flow
  4. Go to ⚙️ Settings
  5. Tap on "Trade name"
  6. Select trade name you want to link to the bank account.

Can I add a new trade name to my list in the bunq app?

If you would like to link another trade name to one of your Bank Accounts, you will first need to register it at the Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van koophandel) before it will appear as an option in the app. Depending on the processing time from their side, this can take up to a few days.

In order to change the trade name linked to an existing Bank Account follow this easy process:

  1. Go to the 🏠 Home tab
  2. Tap the Bank Account
  3. Go to ⚙️ Settings
  4. Tap on "Trade Name"
  5. Enable the "Trade Name" feature
  6. Select which trade name you want to link to the Bank Account

How long does it take for other banks to see the updated trade name?

We synchronize the trade names linked to your Bank Accounts twice a day! Although we’re quick, other banks can take up to 30 days to synchronize the new trade names. If they send you a message saying they can’t verify your trade name(s) yet, this is the reason. Once your trade name is synchronized from their side you’re good to go.

Good to know

  • The feature is only available for Dutch and German Business users with an bunq Pro or bunq Elite plan
  • Every trade name linked to a Bank Account comes with a monthly fee of €2.99.
  • The trade name needs to be registered at the KvK.
