  • I got charged 17.99€ for a subscription plan that I did not request

Just opened a bank account with Bunq and I got charged 17.99€ for a subscription plan that I did not request and now I have a negative balance. How do i unsubscribe and cancel the transaction?

    @New-Rose-Antelope-3578478407#267599 Hi! You started with a free 30 days Easy Bank trial. Because you didn't change your plan within those 30 days, you now started paying for this plan. You can easily change your plan in the bunq settings (Profile > Settings > My plan).

    If you want to compare the available plans, check bunq.com.

    You should've received multiple emails and/or in-app notifications about this, and it was also indicated at the start of your trial.

      @New-Rose-Antelope-3578478407#267599 Hi 👋,
      Everyone getting a new bunq accounts gets set up for “Easy Green” for the first month for free.
      Before the free month lapses you need to either decide for a different plan or keep the existing one which require no action.

      If you actually received the invoice and charged to your account, change to whatever plan you need and try by contacting bunq support to receive a credit.

      Regards
      GG

        I’m experiencing the same thing they’ve deducted 80€ so far and idk how to get my funds back

          @New-Emerald-Swan-2528250478#267787 Just change your subscription.

            @thijsoost#267790 Does it mean the money they deducted is already gone and can’t be refund

              I have this to man. I woke up today checked my app and randomly got charged for Bunq Easy Green.

                @New-Yellow-Tiger-2620995132#277721 It's not random, every new bunq user starts with a free 30 days Easy Green plan. If you don't change or cancel your plan within those 30 days, you start paying for this subscription plan. You can change your subscription any time in the bunq app on the Profile page. Check: https://together.bunq.com/d/38725

                If you're not a new user, then you probably used a feature that's not in your plan, but only in the Easy Green plan.

                  @New-Yellow-Tiger-2620995132#277721 Hey Sander 👋 Indeed, please know that when you first signup for an account, you get to experience all of the cool features of the Easy Green plan during your free 1-month trial 🌳
                  Once the free month is over, you have the option to either remain on Easy Green, or switch to one of our other available plans: Easy Savings, Easy Bank or Easy Money. Please keep in mind that If you do not make any changes after your Trial expires, the app will keep you on the Easy Green subscription by default. You can find more information about this in our article here: https://together.bunq.com/d/38725 📚

                  If you believe there was a mistake with your invoice, please contact us via the in-app support center: https://www.bunq.com/link/support or by e-mail to support@bunq.com We’ll be sure to help you further there 🙌

                    I have had Bunq since 2017, and starting in March I have been charged 8.99 per month for a plan that I did not enroll in, nor did I receive any notification that I was now in a new plan. I only noticed this when I was told my balance was insufficient to renew my plan or these withdrawals could have gone on indefinitely. Having no balance is a bummer but it could have been worse had real money been in my account. So I have two tips: keep your balance as low as possible and tick the “email invoices” option in the app (it is not the default for some strange reason).

                      @Pete-Orange-Badger#278967 You were probably using a plan that no longer exists, and therefore you were automatically assigned to one of the new plans. I believe you should've received an email about this.

                      "Keep your balance as low as possible" is only relevant for people who aren't using bunq. I'm using bunq as my main bank, so keeping the balance low doesn't make much sense.

                        "Keeping your balance as low as possible" is also not very good advice for another reason: just because bunq cannot immediately settle a charge with you doesn't erase your contractual debt. They could still ask you to pay up, just like most other companies that you have a contract with and where you are incurring regular charges would do when you just stop paying but don't cancel.

                        It's always better to actually cancel your subscriptions instead of just blocking payments, especially when you deal with legitimate businesses, as they could decide that you're still liable for some amount and even send it to collections or similar. Not saying bunq in particular does this, as I'm unfamiliar with their internal policies, but in general companies might do this.

                          Just opened account and got charged 17.99. Please return my money. I didn't agree to pay any charges.

                            2 months later

                            Also got hit wtih this charge today and am requesting a refund. Given the prevalence of this occurrence, the app is obviously sneaky in how it registers users to its paid plans. I do not value a bank that's trying to sneak money out of me; this has never happened with any of my other EMIs which span multiple continents. I'll be cancelling the account once this is resolved. If it doesn't get resolved, you can be sure your 8.99 has bought you a plethora of bad reviews and negative word of mouth.

                              @New-Aquamarine-Dragon-2918870783#289086 Hey there, Maverick 👋

                              Thanks for reaching out! I see that you've already been refunded this amount by one of our support guides 🙌

                              Please know that while you're automatically signed up for the Easy Green subscription following the free trial if you don't make an alternative selection, in order to be signed up for Easy Money [€8.99/month] you must make the selection in the app yourself, it's not done automatically by us.

                                @New-Aquamarine-Dragon-2918870783#289086 This is how most paid subscriptions work, right? You get a first month for free: when you create an account, you're informed that you start with a free month of the paid Easy Green subscription. If you don't change anything before the end of that month, you start paying for the subscription. It works the same at bunq as at other services.
