You've opened and enjoyed a bunq bank account, but now you're ready to close it. How do you do that?
Once your bank account is closed, it'll be stored in your Archived accounts (In the settings on your home page). You'll be able to reopen the account at anytime for up to 60 days after the closure date. After 60 days, the account will be permanently closed and you won't have the option to reopen it any longer. - Home
- Select your Bank Account
- Tap on Settings ⚙️
- Tap on Close Bank Account
What should I do before closing my Bank Account?
To close a bunq bank account, you need to ensure several conditions are met:
- The balance on your account should be exactly €0,00.
- There should be no payments scheduled from your account.
- There should be no pending Requests for the account
- There should be no pending bunq.to payments for the account.
- There should be no pending iDEAL deposits for the account.
- The account shouldn't be linked to any of your cards.
- There should be no active Connects for the account.
- The account shouldn't be selected as your billing account.
Once all these conditions are met, you should be able to close your bunq bank account. Further details on the matter can be found here.
Do you want to close a Joint account?
You can follow these easy steps:
- Go to Home
- Tap on the Joint account
- Select Settings
- Tap on Close account
A joint bank account is legally owned by all users it has been initially shared with and no new users can gain access to it at a later point in time, due to legal regulations. When the Joint Account is closed - it's deactivated for all parties involved and can't be reactivated.
