  • Numberpad when entering IBAN

I noticed that the keyboard of the iPhone does not switch to the number pad when getting to to numbers part of the IBAN when sending money. This is way more convenient than having the whole keyboard open with only the numbers you need on the top row. In my opinion it should look like this, but then better ;)

The Dutch Tikkie app does that exactly. It switches between full keyboard and numberpad automatically whenever the part of the entry of the IBAN requires it.

It‘s okay the way it is.
I don‘t get the point where this should be anymore convenient...

It is indeed "okay", but It could be better.

You don't get the point where this should be anymore convenient... Well, because it can be.

@wvrsm#52764 So can it be the way it is.
I think this is more a personal preference...

I thought this forum was here to suggest improvements. That’s what I’m doing.

Yes please 😃 Why do you need the letters if you only can enter numbers?

@wvrsm#52766 It‘s also here to discuss...

@wvrsm#52760 I do see your point but I think it would feel weird if you enter a whole IBAN. Because IBANs start with letters like NL or DE you need the full keyboard to start with. Then they letters are followed by two numbers so you switch to numbers for only two numbers. Then you have to go back to the full keyboard because in the Netherlands you have four letters following. Just to finally switch back to numbers again to finish off the IBAN.

While it may sound logically to have a number pad for the IBAN it would totally slow down the whole process because you’d have to switch multiple times between numberpad and full keyboard. Especially in older devices this takes usually a long time to bring up the keyboard close it switch to numbers and so on.

It’s great to bring in your ideas 💡 but I don’t think this would be a good change.

@wvrsm#52760 The current keyboard implementation is ok (as in it works), but I think this would make it just a bit more easy to use. So you have my vote! 👍🏻

In NL IBANs there are only numbers in the last part, but on non-NL-IBANs it can be different. The IBAN specification allows letters anywhere (only the 3 and 4 position must be numbers).

Nope, bad idea due to international transfers with letters in the iban instead of only numbers. Just leave it the way it is. :) At least by default.

@LH-Black-Wolf#52791 Exactly my point of view. You will have to switch between numbers and letters one way or the other. At least this way it is right now I have all in one keyboard. Letters can be in almost any place so how would bunq even so this. It’s not like it’s a rule that the last three characters have to be numbers they can be letters as well. I think this would just lead to frustration with the people.

The point is that the iPhone keyboard is able to switch automatically to the number pad if an entry only requires numbers. If the entry requires characters it switches back to full keyboard.

To clarify: the Dutch Tikkie app does exactly what I mean. It switches automatically between full keyboard and numberpad whenever the entry requires it.

@wvrsm#52851 You dont understand that every country has different IBAN numbers. For example in Germany it’s like DE 00 0000 0000 0000 00.
We only have letters in the beginning. And then only numbers. Every country handles this differently. This means bunq would need to programm the app for every country so it can work properly with the ibans. Imagine how frustrating it would be if bunq screws up at some point because some country has another format of the IBAN and then it brings up the number keyboard but you need to enter letters or the other way around.

It works the way it is right now. I don’t see any more value added to it if the keyboard switches automatically. Especially in older iPhones the keyboard switches very slow and it is a pain to wait for it.

                                @Lexa-kom-Trikru#52861 You don’t, I do.

@wvrsm#52869 Please read my text and try to understand what I say. 😜

@Lexa-kom-Trikru#52870 I do understand what you say. I just don’t agree with you 😜

@wvrsm#52872 Well then it’s totally fine. 😋 We don’t need to agree I’m just trying to make my point and I am pleased to see what other people think about this topic. 😅 The more i think about it i guess it really could be a nice addition if bunq manages to do it right. 😋
