  • Is it possible to block withdrawals from a savings account?

Hi there,

I just joined Bunq today (mostly so I can use Apple pay in the NL) and now this is my 3rd bank. My question is: is it possible to ‘block’ or prevent yourself from withdrawing money from your savings account? I would really like this feature so I am not able to touch my savings on a night out for example. If this is the case then I can get rid of at least one of the other banks.

Thanks!

    Hey @Marciano-Navy-Turtle#66079 👋

This is not possible at the moment, sadly. 🤔
But the app will try to stop you from withdrawing money from the account by showing a large message and the pay and request buttons aren't displayed on the account screen of a savings goal.

So unfortunately the app can't stop you from spending the money entirely, but it will ask you every time if you are sure you want to do so. 😉

Maybe the next big update will bring some changes to this to, e.g. make it (temporarily) impossible to withdraw money from the account 🌈 A lot of people like the savings goal feature, but a lot of people also have suggestions to make it even better. We might find out next week. 🗓

    Have a nice evening!

Well you could just connect your card(s) to an account with a limited amount of money on it. That way your savings on another account/savings goal wouldn’t be affected by payments or atm withdrawals. Of course this requires you to have the discipline not to touch your savings. You could also leave your phone at home if that’s too difficult ;)

Hello, can I block someone from deducting money from my account 🙂

I make the account invisible and put automatically some money on it. If I do not see the account I do not have the tendency to use it
