  • Reached the Virtual Cards limit

@LH-Black-Wolf#193320 Hi, I tried doing so, and indeed I couldn't order an online card - it was telling me "invalid characters" even before requesting the name.
I realized it was taking the name of the Account, which had the "grocery cart" icon in it. So I went ahead and deleted that icon from the account, and I was then successful to make a new online card associated with that account, and I could also go back and change the account icon back to its original.
I am not sure if this was the problem (or similar) you were facing, so hope it helps.

Note: I got an online credit card this time, and it seems there is no way or an option to chose between credit or debit. My previous other online cards, all of them, are debit cards.

@Sayon#193325 No here it just says the limit has been reached even if I freeze an Online Card first :P However, for me what MIGHT be happening is that bunq counts the virtual NFC cards as Online Cards (they even show up as such in the app, though not in the API). But then @JohnDo#193312 should have the same problem as I’ve seen him mentioning here that he has multiple of those cards as well just like me. But it does work for him, so he says. So that’s probably not the problem either.

What is weird is that V2 said there were no Online cards at all anymore. I think something got messed up in the database.

I hope/think that bunq is fasing out the old online card in favor of all MC credit cards. With the difference being that you can create as many MC credit cards as you want and later request a physical version of that card. So all card are online only until you request the physical counterpart

        Vielleicht mal als mögliche Erklärung, weshalb keine neuen virtuellen Karten mehr beliebig erstellt werden können;

I have an update today from customer support here is what they told me. "Thank you for your message. I understand that there has been some confusion and miscommunication about the online cards.

We won't stop providing online cards and with your Premium subscription you will be able to order 5 free cards and add a 'bundle' of 5 card to your subscription for €9,99 with a limit of 20 online cards per year. "
So this means the previous two customer support agents were either misinformed or lying ad I also didn't believe they would stop online cards overall.

@Mikis-Turquoise-Hummingbird#193384 Very good! Phew. So did they also solve the problem for you with it erroneously stating you’ve reached the limit?

@LH-Black-Wolf#193388 No they forwarded the issue about the card limit to the developers again. The first time it was during June and then after a month or so I got a message from the developers that there is no bug and the limit on my account is correct which is absolutely not true because I have proof and I sent them screenshots of transactions with cards used that are older than 1 year and therefore should not account to the 20 cards annual limit I hope this time they do a proper work and fix it let's see.

@Mikis-Turquoise-Hummingbird#193401 Maybe this is an issue of definition, but if you still had the cards active or frozen (so not completely blocked) during some time frame in the 2nd year, then they would still count, or would they not? At least that's how interpreted the 20 cards limit until now. So just having some transactions more than 1 year ago wouldn't mean anything.

@Jakob-Y#193404 I believe it counts from the moment of creation of the card. It says 20 cards annual and I have confirmed it by bunq that's its 20 cards within the past 12 months.

@Mikis-Turquoise-Hummingbird#193410 Yup that's what I figured. If we both have a different understanding in regards to how the limit is calculated, then maybe the issue is not about online cards no longer working, but about how exactly the rules are interpreted by different parties. But I guess we'll get some clarification soon.

                              Hello bunqers! 👋

Quick update: Virtual (Online) cards are still available!

We encountered some bugs in the past, but thanks to your reports we were able to fix them right away!
All bunqers with Premium, Business and SuperGreen subscriptions can have 5 Virtual cards for free, you can also add 5 extra Virtual Cards to your account for extra fees. This way you can have a max of 20 Virtual cards per 12 months.

Check out this post for more info. 🔍

                              Wishing y'all a beautiful day today! ☀️

                              Cheers,

                              Ajara 🌈

@Ajara#193520 It's great to hear that virtual cards will remain available for all bunquers. Let me know how soon you can fix my issue as I cannot anymore virtual cards and the bug is not fixed on my end I have uploaded to you the proof from past transactions that show some of my cards that were accounted in the total of 20 cards per 12 months are actually older than 12 months and therefore my limit needs to be adjusted. Thank you

@Mikis-Turquoise-Hummingbird#193747 I don't have any privileged info from Bunq but my intuitive understanding of the limit rule is "# of active cards during last 12 month" so that the freezing date would be the important one and not the creation date.

Anyway after checking the Bunq post about online cards, I have to say your interpretation seems 100% right.

@Manuel-LesLilas#194000 Yes it's the creation date that matters I ve been back and forth many times about this topic with bunq support.

                                        a month later

Still no solution. I cannot create any more virtual cards although I ve been told repeatedly by bunq support that the limit is 20 virtual cards in a time frame of 12 months and not in a calendar year and I presented them proof of me having transactions with virtual cards that they include in the 12 months period that actually dates way long before that and therefore they should not be included. It was escalated to developers but they didn't do anything. Does any one face this issue like me where he cannot create virtual cards?
