How to open a sub-account?
Opening a sub-account is quick and easy! Just click here follow these simple steps to open a new sub-account:
- Go to Home tab
- Tap on 🟣 + Add
- Click on 🟢 Add a Sub-Account
- Select 🟠 Bank Account
- Personalize your sub-account
- Choose Local Currency / Local IBAN (optional)
Want to personalize your account post creation?
You can click here or follow the steps mentioned below:
- Open the Home Tab
- Tap on your Sub-Account
- Click on Settings in the top right corner
- Choose Personalize Sub-Account
And there you have it! All done and ready to start using your sub-account! 🚀
How many sub-accounts are included in my plans?
25 sub-accounts are included in Easy Money, Easy Green Personal and Business plans! For an additional fee, you can open more than 25 sub-accounts. For more information on our prices, please take a look at our pricing doc 🌈
Keep in mind that sub-accounts shared with you via Shared Access also count towards your limit.
With a Personal or Business Easy Bank plan, you can have 1 main sub-account as explained here.
When you receive a notification that requires your action, you'll be notified by a notification badge on your bunq app's icon and monetary account. The number will only increase with the new events that need your further action like payment requests, information required, etc.
How to manage sub accounts?
When you open the bunq app, all sub-accounts are displayed. If you want to change the order of your sub-accounts, this can easily be done! Tap and hold the account and swipe it to another position.
With bunq Update 20 we introduced an Update for the Home tab and now you can create folders with your sub-accounts. See more here

- Go to https://web.bunq.com
- Click on + Add sub-account
- Select Budget easily
Want to share your account?
Decided to share your account with a friend or family member? A sub-account can be shared via Connect.
Want to hide your sub-account?
You can hide your Home tab tiles by following these easy steps:
- Go to Home
- Long-press on the sub-account
- Select Visibility
- Click Hide This Tile
You changed your mind and want to see the tile again? Simply follow these steps:
- Go to Home
- Long-press on any sub-account
- Select Visibility
- Click ... Manage
- Select the tiles you want to see again
How do I top-up my sub-account?
Before making a payment, you should top-up your balance. There are lots of ways to do this. Follow this link to find out more here.
How do I transfer money between my sub-accounts?
To make a payment between your sub-accounts, just follow the steps below:
- Go to the Home Tab and tap on Pay
- Choose the amount
- Click on Choose Recipient and select My Accounts
- Select your other Sub-Account
- Check the details and confirm with Send Payment
