How to open a bunq Business account?

At bunq it’s very easy to open a Business account. Simply follow the 3 steps below:

Step 1: Open and verify your bunq Personal account first

As a bank, we're legally required to securely store all our users’ personal information. By creating a Personal account for the director of your Business account, we ensure both your and your company’s information is protected while staying compliant with regulations. More details can be found here.

There are two ways to open a Business account, depending on whether you’re an existing bunq user or a new one:

Existing bunq user

If you already have a bunq account, just follow these steps:

Go to the 🏠 Home tab
Tap on 🟣 + Add
Select 🔵 Add Business
Follow the registration process! ✨

New bunq user

For new users, here’s how to get started:

Download the bunq app
Click on Try for free
Choose your interests for a Personal account, then scroll down to select the features for a Business account as well
Add your personal information
Add your business information
Identify yourself
Complete your Business account signup by providing the additional requested business information via the app
Our KYC team will review your application and let you know if we need more information about your company. We’ll keep you updated!

The moment you’ve applied for your bunq Business account, we’ll get to work in order to verify it for you. This will likely take less than 5 minutes. In some cases however we’ll require additional information or documentation about your business. Should this happen, we’ll contact you personally in the app. To keep our communication with you safe and secure we’ll never approach you by e-mail or by phone.

Step 2: Open and verify your bunq Business account

Once your bunq Personal account is verified, up and running, you can open your bunq Business account in just a few taps as explained above. To help you through the process, we recommend you keep the following documentation and info at hand:

Registration number of the Chamber of Commerce
Names and ID-documents of the other directors/board members
Names, and in some cases the ID-documents, of the business' Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs). These names should’ve been previously provided to the Chamber of Commerce as well.
Information about the activities of your business and how you expect to use your bunq Business account
Other info such as the Deed of Incorporation or Articles of Association, depending on the legal form of the company and on the country of registration

Choose an account for 'My Business'
Fill in your personal and business details, set your security code and check our Terms & Conditions
Click on Verify Now to continue with identity verification to verify your account
Follow the verification steps on the screen and provide all the needed info
Done! If we need additional information, we'll let you know

Keep in mind that you'll be given the option to switch to your mobile device before you start the video verification part of the flow. If you switch to your mobile device, the rest of the verification will be completed through the app 📱
